The training we did this year made me much tougher mentally than I have ever been in the past. Something about a goal race that was really scary for me made me dig deeper to finish the extra repeat at track or swim 2 workouts in the same day. I believe in myself far more than I did a year ago. I am realistic that I am not as talented as the best athletes, but know that I can get a great result on hard work and self belief. This was good for me and that is not in any way restricted to my athletic life.  Thanks Coach Mace!

A big thank you to Coach Mace on helping me qualify for the Ironman World 70.3 Championships in 2014-2016 as well as Ironman World Championships Kona in 2015 and 2017.  When I started with Coach Mace I was a middle of the pack age-grouper.  He worked with me for 4 months and helped me to drop almost 40 minutes from my half ironman time.  His level of knowledge and understanding of training and what I needed to do was the key to my success.  All I had to do was trust the workouts that he was giving me and give a little feedback and he did the rest.

Not only did he help with my training, he went above and beyond and traveled with me to support me during my first Ironman 70.3 in Austin, TX.  It made a huge difference having him there before and during the race.  He advised me on strategy while previewing the course and helped to make sure that I was completely prepared and focused during the race.  With that support I was able to grab a podium and an automatic qualification for the next year’s world 70.3 Championship at Mont Tremblant.  I would highly recommend Coach Mace to anyone looking to improve their running, cycling or swimming. He really takes the time to understand your needs and will tailor workouts specific to you.  I can’t wait to see what the next few years bring and see how far I can drop my times.  Will definitely be a long-term client!

When I first started with Coach Mace, I was at a crossroads where I wanted to go with triathlon, as I’d been making progress, but not in the way I wanted to, and seemingly the same goals had been just out of reach for a couple of years. Instead, I felt I could give in entirely, with no magic recipe, just good, honest work day after day, week after week, season after season and I’ve since well exceeded some of those initial goals. He is a coach that is not in it for the get fast quick approach, and it has made me appreciate the journey to improve more than just hitting some end result. By enjoying and embracing the process, I've seen a gradual yet massive transition from finishing 29th at Armed Forces Triathlon Championship in 2013 and just barely making the All-Navy team to finishing 3rd in 2018 and qualifying for Team USA at the CISM World Military Triathlon Championships.

The coaches at MP Multisport have been everything I could hope for with guidance in triathlon. While I have worked with all of them on different levels, Coach Mace and I have been working together for nearly six years now. With Mace's guidance, I've been able to develop from a hockey player doing my first triathlon into a professional triathlete. Mace takes the time to get to know his athletes on an individual level. He learns how much, or how little, "structure" they like and when to implement specifics. He has an uncanny ability to predict performances and structure macro training blocks to peak athletes at the appropriate times throughout the year. As an athlete, it is easy to overthink individual sessions and question what we're doing. However, I've learned to 100% trust my coaches to design the training plan and workouts to fit together pieces to the "big picture" puzzle. All of the stress of worrying about the "what if's" is taken away letting me focus on one session at a time. MP Multisport coaches are very good at keeping their athletes balanced. Reminding us to have fun and enjoy the process. As much as we want to turn ourselves inside out every session, that's not practical and at the end of the day, we all do triathlon to have fun!

Coach Mason has played an integral role in my development as an athlete.  In two years, he's brought me from the occasional age group contender to several overall podium finishes to a Professional Elite Triathlete in 2014.  He's also helped me to drop over 12 minutes from my Olympic distance time and 23 minutes from my half-ironman in one year!  Mace puts his mantra of "iron sharpens iron" into practice by maintaining a consistent presence in workouts.  His motivating attitude, quick feedback, and detailed training plans continue to help me grow as an athlete.

When I signed up for my first Ironman Triathlon, I had no idea where to start. I put all of my trust in Tess Mattern at MP Multisport, and looking back, I wouldn't have it any other way. She was attentive to my schedule and my race goals, and with our weekly communications, she helped me to ramp up my training in a safe, fun, and effective way. I made it to race day in the best shape of my life, and exceeded all of my expectations.

MP Multisport is not only a great asset to a competitive athlete looking to take their performance to the next level, but is also perfect for those who feel new to the sport and just need help with their race day confidence. Tess comes with my highest recommendation, and I'll look to her whenever I have another big race goal!

Coach Mace and Coach Frosty know more about this sport than anyone I’ve met.  You’ll find no better coach, leader, or mentor than these two.  They’re passionate and committed to their athletes.

I first met Coach Mace in the summer of 2008.  He was wearing an AF Triathlon shirt, which made me ask the obvious question, “Where did you get that shirt?”  His response, “I do triathlons…”  Out of curiosity, and a little push from Mace, I eventually signed up for my first sprint triathlon.  I had no clue what I was getting into - I didn’t know how to swim laps, my bike was a used road bike, and I had never run more than a few miles at a time.  He gave me a ton of insight and advice to help me across the finish line.  He came up to me immediately after my first race, just minutes before he was about to enter the water for his own, and asked, “How’d it go?”  I’ve been hooked ever since!   Little did I know Coach Frost was also stepping into the water with Mace, at the same race, on the same day…

After trying to navigate the sport on my own for two years, and making little progress, I took the advice of a friend (Scott Tonder) and contacted Coach Frost for help with my training (this was a few years before Coach Mace founded MP Multisport).  At first, we focused on the basics of each discipline, and he helped me prioritize my “random” training plan into a coherent training and racing strategy.  We didn’t just focus on training for the distance, he taught me how to prepare for and analyze each segment of a race course to maximize performance.  My wife works part-time and we have two kids involved with school activities and sports.  Coach Frost understands my time constraints and builds a training plan focusing on quality over quantity.  The results the past several years have been tremendous.  Coach Frost helped me qualify for the USAT Age Group National Championships (3x), the Hy-Vee U.S. National Championship, numerous podium finishes, and I continue to set PRs at every distance.  Most recently, he helped me drop almost 30 mins from my previous marathon PR.  His methods work!

I had an opportunity to work with Tess Mattern. I must tell she is a terrific coach. She really transformed me from absolute Novice to a more confident Triathlete! and her expertise is not restricted to Triathlons, she is an expert swimmer and Nutritionist too. She really changed my perception on diet, it was a game changer for me. She is very professional and experienced coach. I would highly recommend her to anyone who has Triathlon and Nutrition goals in mind

To say Coach Frost has had a big impact on my triathlon career is an understatement. Within the first three months of working with him, my half-ironman PR dropped to almost 15 minutes faster than I had ever gone. 8 months later he helped me qualify for the world championship level at the Military World Games. Frosty has made me a better athlete but more importantly has made me realize I can accomplish great things outside of the sport by pushing me and instilling confidence. On top of all this, Coach Frost knows more about triathlon than anyone I know and loves to share it.

As a coach, I have never seen someone so dedicated to his team.  Not only does he coach an 80 person team, but he designs workout plans and a personalized workout schedule for anyone who asks.  He also travels with our team to all of our races, even those halfway across the country.  He manages to do all this while also working, training himself, and being a family man.  While his primary focus is on helping us with training, he is also always willing to help someone out in life.  I can't tell you how many times he's invited the team to his home for dinner just because. Truly an inspirational figure.

Coach has been an inspiration to me, and all of his athletes, not only through his coaching and advice, but also as an athlete himself.   He has guided me with my mental preparation, nutrition, training, and recovery. His outlook on life is a holistic approach, inspiring people of all ages and abilities, knowing that everyone has the capacity for growth and improvement.  He is an educated coach who I also think of as a friend.  I am thrilled to see what the future has in store for us as I continue to pursue racing as a professional!

Coach Mace was there giving me tips throughout my entire training for my first marathon in Denver which he actually raced with me.  We met several times throughout the race as we were evenly matched, and he motivated me the whole way where we both earned a BQ!  Regarding triathlons, he turned my non-existent swimming form into something other than drowning with style, and my 100m times have decreased from 2:15 to 1:45.  He also guided me the entire time I was looking for a decent road bike to train with.  Without Coach Mace, I would not have become competitive in triathlon.

Mace's coaching and leadership gave me a new approach to triathlon.  He taught me to set goals and have faith in a training plan to reach them.  In the past, I believed I could only get stronger by pushing my body to its limits day in and day out.  I was frequently injured and wasn't getting faster or becoming a better athlete.  The training plan employed called for phases or periods to build fitness and included a variety of workouts to encourage overall development.  There were focused, intense workouts in addition to relaxed workouts.  By following his training plans, I have increased my endurance, speed and gained skills specific to triathlon, and have decreased my Olympic time over 35 minutes to just short of 2:00 and several overall podium spots.  Most importantly, I have grown to love and appreciate the sport.  Instead of burning out, I look forward to future workouts knowing they will increase my fitness and development as an athlete.

Mace is truly the best coach I could ask for!  No matter what level you compete at, he will coach you to your next PR. The best part of his coaching is he is an accomplished triathlete himself and can relate to the training and competing you go through because he too has been through it all.  He personally cares about how you are feeling with your training and will make sure you are on the right track to success. His approach is understanding the athlete first and adapting the training plan to how you feel.  I know he has been a big reason for my successful 2012 season and earning my Pro-Card.  He will continue to be a key factor in my life and future as a pro triathlete!

For nearly six years, I trained and raced entirely on my own and managed to make some small improvement here and there. However, in less than 12 months training under Coach Mace, my Olympic distance time has dropped by eight minutes! Every workout he provides has a specific purpose and he always ensures he explains every detail of his training plan to his athletes. Mace’s ability to balance family, work and his own training are truly what make him a great coach. He understands his athletes have a life outside of triathlon and no matter how much time you have to devote to your training, he will be sure to design a training program to get you the results you want. The time and energy he devotes to the sport and his athletes is unmatched and I could not have asked for a better coach to help me reach my goals.
