USA Triathlon (Level II), TrainingPeaks, USA Cycling, Colorado State University, FMS, ASEP, PCA, USMES, and Team RWB all have entrusted Coach Mace with a level of certification and acceptance to Coach our Nation's top athletes.
Jon's love for running began early as he grew up in the shadow of his uncle, Olympic Qualifier and sub 4 minute miler, John Mason. Jon also made his mark in Kansas by becoming a state champion in the 800 meters and then went on to compete NCAA Division II at the University of Northern Colorado. Jon's first road bike experience came in Tucson, Arizona where his Air Force coworkers would take him on infamous Mount Lemmon rides and beautiful Tucson perimeter rides through Saguaro National Park, Kitt Peak, and Gates Pass. With the addition of this discipline, triathlon became a natural next step. Like many, he entered his first triathlon sprint and was hooked for life. "There were key figures and mentors in my life during that time who led me into endurance athletics. However, I wasn't formally coached in multisport during those early years. I learned more by studying the school of hard knocks and then applying what I learned from the experiences. I want to give back to my athletes by helping them in the right direction from the beginning."
In 2008, Mace earned the honor of being selected to the United States Air Force Triathlon Team. As one of only twelve members, he has been competing on the national stage at the US Armed Forces Triathlon Championships (AFTC) ever since. "Being on the USAF team for fourteen years now has been one of the best things I've ever been a part of. The ITU draft-legal racing in Olympic distance is a whole new level of racing. The amazing camaraderie both on my Air Force team and with other branches of the Armed Forces is my motivation to wake up at 0400 in the cold winter months." In 2014, he moved up the ranks finishing top-10 overall and 2nd fastest USAF triathlete and in 2015 he qualified for the 6th World Military Games hosted by the Republic of Korea earning a Bronze medal, 2017 qualified for the CISM World Military Triathlon Championship hosted by Germany earning a Silver Medal, 2019 raced for Team USA at the 7th World Military Games in Wuhan, China and 2023 CISM World Military Triathlon Championship in Brive-La-Gaillarde, France.
Mace is also the Head Coach of the Men's and Women's Colorado State University Triathlon Team. Within this 40 member team he has nurtured all levels of athletes from the first timer to top elite/pro athletes. His ability to build relationships and demand the best out of his athletes is what sets him apart. "I'm proud of CSU Triathlon because it's top 10 nationally in terms of participation and in 2017 through 2023 we reached the National podium in Men's Team (5th), Women's Team (5th) and Combined Team (5th), marking us as the one of the top triathlon teams in the nation." In 2019, his Women's team reached unprecedented levels with a historic podium sweep and their best team placement yet. He has led and developed multiple athletes to Elite status, National Championships, National and World Championship Qualifications and Personal Records but is most proud of how much FUN they have and how much they learn on the journey!

Tess learned to swim by age 3, and joined the local swim team a year later. With the encouragement of her big sisters, she survived her first swim meet as a 4 year old (in a 50m pool), and continued swimming competitively for the next 15 years.
Her senior year of high school, Tess turned down a full-ride scholarship to swim for University of Nevada-Reno, choosing Emory University instead. Over her 4-year tenure at Emory, Tess helped her team to its 2nd National Championship title, earned 12 All-American Honors, set 7 Varsity records, and was the first female swimmer from Emory to achieve All-American honors in the same 3 events all 4 years. During her senior year at Emory, she began running more, and implemented it into her training program twice a week. The cross-training paid off, as her senior year was the best of her career. Tess’s interest in running also increased, and led her to complete her first sprint triathlon a few months after graduating. Since 2009, Tess has completed that same sprint triathlon winning her age group, and breaking into the top 5 women overall, completed 3 half marathons, an open-water 10K swim, 12 Olympic Distance Triathlons, and two 70.3 races. In 2017, she represented Team USA in Rotterdam, NL in the Olympic Distance race placing 20th in the World and in 2018, she won the USAT Age Group (30-34) National Title in the Olympic Distance at Cleveland, Ohio.
Tess began teaching swim lessons when she was 15, and has taught people of all ages to learn to swim. She started coaching in college, and has coached Competitive Swimmers of all Ages, Special Olympic Athletes, Triathletes, Masters Athletes, and pretty much everyone in-between! Her love for coaching is evident through her enthusiasm to help each individual athlete reach their fullest potential, and she loves being a coach for the CSU Triathlon team. She is a Master Nutrition Therapist and graduated from Nutrition Therapy Institute in April of 2015. Tess is also a USAT Level 1 certified coach, and a NASM certified Personal Trainer. She has fallen in love with the sport of triathlon and the community surrounding it, and is excited to continue helping athletes on all fronts.

Coach Austin Pruneda
Austin Pruneda competed in his first triathlon in 2003 at the Pueblo, Colorado YMCA and has been hooked ever since. While living in Valdosta, Georgia, he raced on a regular basis with a focus of exposing as many people to the sport as possible. Austin started a club at Moody AFB in 2006 and although that was just a group of friends and didn't grow much, it provided a foundation for a more structured workout environment and team philosophy. While completing his Masters Degree in Physical Education at Valdosta State University, he completed USAT level 1 and started a collegiate club through Campus Recreation. That team grew and lived on for a few years. They took a few athletes to the 2008 Collegiate Nationals in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. After he returned to San Antonio, Texas, Austin found a great climate to take training seriously and was able to get back into racing. He believes in the full spectrum of the sports experience. Triathlon can be a weekend thing you do every once in a while or it can be a complete lifestyle change. Austin has embraced both at different times throughout his various family and career obligations. In 2018, he earned USAT All-American and Ironman All World Athlete. In 2019, Austin raced in his first Armed Forces Championship and first 70.3 World Championship in Nice, France. Recently, Austin has become more involved in governance and administrative roles. He has been the Air Force representative to the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee since 2018. In 2019 he was elected the Vice Chair of the Multisports Organization Council. He also supported Armed Forces Cycling team in Wuhan, China at the 2019 Military World Games as the team captain. Lastly, Austin is the US Air Force Triathlon coach. Austin loves to help people achieve goals, try new experiences, and introduce them to things he has found enjoyable. Austin would be happy to work with you in San Antonio, Texas or online.
Born and raised in rural New Zealand, Kieran started off as a running enthusiast in his later high school years. More of a social trainer with his local running club, it wasn’t until he podiumed at several national road championship in 2009 that he started training more serious.
In 2011 in college, after running several 100 mile weeks for fun, he decided to hit the pool for further fitness, where he met his first swim coach/triathlon mentor who convinced him to switch sports. Although predominantly self-coached and having only 6 months in the sport, Kieran went on to place 3rd at the 2011 ITU World AG championship in Beijing and winning an Age Group World Championship a year later in Auckland. He turned to U23 ITU Elite a few years later before switching to Xterra in 2016. This change has culminated in 4 Xterra World Tour race wins and a Pan American Tour title. Making a statement to become the next big thing in the sport.
"I love to cater to hard working endurance athletes both on and offroad. I specialize in endurance and technique based workouts with an emphasis on creating a great coach-athlete relationship through consistent feedback and one on one sessions. My goal as a coach is to smoothly integrate into the NoCo triathlon community while increasing the number of offroad triathletes."
